FREE Professional Development Trainings

Free training is offered to providers on the map offered at no charge. (you will receive more details about the FREE/CEUs trainings at a later time). These trainings were designed to increase the capacity of providers to understand stress and trauma, deepen their ability to foster healing and resiliency, and to promote policy and systems change and have concrete education and skills to inform and address these issues.

Descriptions for the trainings and technical assistance tools are provided below: 

  • (July 30th, August 6th) Supervision With Cultural Humility

  • Participants will:

    • Be provided data relevant to cultural humility being an essential components to providing insightful and practical supervision

    • Engage in creating a supervision/consultation plan inclusive of cultural humility

    • Process effective supervision communication styles

    • Revisit Board Rules (AAMFT) and expectations for supervision

    • Develop and articulate one’s supervision guidelines, goals, and a framework that is culturally informed (CEU under application review)

We encourage you to apply to have your contact information added to the directory, which will make you eligible to receive seed funding in addition to attending FREE professional development trainings on August 13 and September 3.

Limited funding is available to increase the capacity of providers to provide support services to residents who are seeking services after a traumatic event that impacted them, their family member, or their community. Services should be aimed towards improving behavioral health outcomes, reducing trauma, supporting community change and creating systems change for more racially equitable outcomes. Additional Information: Eligibility & Responsibilities

Providers listed on the Cultural Wellness Directory are defined as: 

  • Community Cultural Healers draws on traditional or nontraditional practices as sources of healing and resiliency, rather than Western scientific practices alone.  Must have advanced education, training and credentials.

  • Mental health providers are professionals who diagnose mental health conditions and provide treatment. Must have at least a master's degree or more-advanced education, training and credentials.

  • Faith Based Leader are professionals who provide support services that are based on religious, spiritual or faith related beliefs. Must have advanced education, training and credentials.

Providers listed on the Cultural Wellness Directory (you) are being asked to:  

  • Provide trauma informed, trauma aware, or trauma healing centered services, to residents who live, work and play in Minneapolis.

  • Assume full responsibility for any and all damages that occur as a result of participating Community Cultural Healers, Faith based Healers, licensed Mental Health providers, agencies and organizations are asked to carry the appropriate and required insurance for their field of work.   

  • Contribute to project goals and processes such as: (1) Building trust and relationships: Committing to a journey of health and healing fostering a healing environment that builds emotional wellness in the community. (2) Work collaboratively with the community to improve behavioral health outcomes, empower the community to change City policy, reduce trauma and sustain community change and create systems change for more racially equitable outcomes. (3) Evaluation: Collecting feedback on success and gaps in the program from the community. Measuring and tracking community needs throughout the program. Participating in data collection and reporting activities.
